2018 Yeti SB5.5 T-Series
Forget any preconceived notions about 29ers. Thanks to an impeccable frame design, shortened chain stays and aggressive suspension spec, the SB5.5 is easy to maneuver and feels lively and quick on the descents.
The SB5.5’s 17.2 inch chainstays aren’t super-short by today’s standards, but that’s exactly the point. Yeti’s testers wanted some torsional flex so the bike handled off-camber descents better. They were able to achieve this by right sizing the chainstays and optimizing the carbon layup to allow rear wheel to track on gnarly terrain. To balance the bike’s front end, Yeti chose to use a long travel 51mm offset fork combined with a 66.5 degree head angle. This allows us to precisely tune the bike’s mechanical trail and wheelbase.
TURQ Series bikes are made with the highest quality carbon fiber available and offer the perfect balance of stiffness and compliance. The result is a bike that feels smooth, solid and aggressive. Every bike is tested by the best racers in the world, including EWS World Champion Richie Rude, Yeti’s in-house testing team, and ambassadors around the world. Based on the feedback we receive, we fine tune every bike down to the most minute component to perform best for the environment it was intended.
